A sports enthusiast himself, he has been associated with the sports fraternity for a long time. At present, he serves as Associate Vice-President of Assam Olympic Association, Advisor to Guwahati Lawn Tennis Association, and is the Working President of Assam Hockey & Assam Cycling Federation.
The Managing Trustee of Care Luit, he provides direction to the team and leads policy advisory support to various government departments.

He is presently consulting many tier-1 companies on digital commerce and software process automation. An alumni of NIT-Warangal, he is a regular in various academic institute of repute and interacts with business management students to share insight of digital commerce and brand marketing.

He is a World Economic Forums Young Global Leader (2020), a Donella Meadows Fellow at the Balaton Group, a LEAD India Fellow, and a FICCI Young Business Leader.
Swapan Mehra has contributed to some of India’s pivotal policy documents including National REDD+ Strategy, NDC Goal 5 Roadmap, and “devolution formula” for India’s 14th and 15th Finance Commissions.
He was a technical reviewer of UNEPs Green Economy Initiatives, a major UN project demonstrating how REDD+ can support a green economy, and is a key jury member for the UNDP Equator Prize.
He has also led carbon finance and climate investment teams at Evolution Markets and AES India, during the early CDM days.

He was the project manager for BEE’s energy star labeling standards program for Inverter AC, televisions, geysers, laptop, and has collaborated on a number of national and regional market assessments, legal and regulatory analyses for appliance standards and labeling in India. He has worked with a variety of stakeholders, including government, non-government, donor agencies, consulting companies, municipal corporations and industry partners. He has successfully implemented RE & EE pilot projects and set-up RE & EE resource centers in Bhubaneswar, Coimbatore and Nagpur municipal corporations in collaboration with SDAs.
He also led a project on developing public-private partnership (PPP) models for the deployment of decentralized renewable energy (DRE) systems in five districts each in Assam and Meghalaya. The project aims to deploy DRE pilots to demonstrate the feasibility of such systems w.r.t. productive uses that can be developed by Renewable Energy (RE) based rural enterprises, as well as address the issue of electricity access in remote areas. He also facilitated the implementation of a scoping study to promote the use of renewable energy applications to improve the quality of digital learning infrastructure and, better sanitation and hygiene in the schools of northeast India. Additionally, he’s supporting the implementation of a fully sponsored advanced solar energy training programme to train more than 1000 youths, entrepreneurs, and government officials from the eight northeast states.
He also served as an external expert as a member of the Governing Body of Assam Climate Change Management Society, Govt. of Assam.

Academically, he holds a Master’s degree in Environmental Science and a Ph.D. in Management (Biodiversity & Tourism issues). Recipient of about a dozen prestigious awards including Social And Business Enterprise Responsible Award SABERA 2021, Green Future Leadership Award 2021, Change Makers of Assam Award 2020, REX Karmaveer Global Fellowship 2022 (Nominated), etc.
For his environmental and humanitarian activities, Dr Pranab has led and contributed to over 50 environmental projects at the national and regional level. He is currently the Chief Executive of Delhi based environmental & social impact organisation Global Foundation for Advancement of Environment & Human Wellness.
An advocate of Nature-based Solutions, Decentralized approach to Conservation and Eco-technology for Environmental Sustainability, Dr Pranab speaks and writes regularly at various forums globally. As a capacity development specialist, he has trained over 10,000 teachers, students, NGO professionals and corporate executives on key environmental issues.
A member of the Climate Reality Leadership Corp – USA, Dr Pranab sits on a number of national and international bodies including government-appointed committees, IUCN Commissions and Specialist Groups. Last year, he got elected as the maiden President of the Assam Science Society’s Delhi & NCR branch and as the Secretary of TERI Alumni Association, New Delhi.

He has been working on engineering design, development, implementation, feasibility and techno economic due diligence of large grid connected PV power projects, off grid PV and hybrid system design and optimization, rural electrification through mini/micro grid projects, capacity building strategy, planning for developing solar cities and green campus.
A master trainer for GSES training programs conducted in India and abroad, he has authored and co-authored books and training manuals on solar PV system design installation, maintenance and inspection; more than 70 technical and professional reports; several publications and papers in technical magazines and journals.
