A Glimpse of our Son Of The Soil Award Ceremony

An Introduction

The Son Of The Soil Award is an idea instituted by Care Luit in 2016. It is a platform to give recognition to young emerging indigenous professionals for their excellent performances. They have risen in spite of all challenges by their sheer hard work and perseverance.

The Awards are not only an expression of gratitude, but will also become the benchmark for many more professionals to follow. The awards are judged on various parameters by an eminent jury.

Son Of The Soil Award

The 4th edition of the SOTS Awards were presented on March 25, 2023 in Dibrugarh.​ Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Sarbananda Sonowal graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented the awards to the winners.

The awards were presented in five categories: Emerging Entrepreneur, Emerging Media Professional, Emerging Public/Private Sector Professional, Emerging Sportsperson, and Emerging Artist. The Award consists of a Citation and Fifty-one Thousand Rupees.

Care Luit and its jury members have selected 5 worthy recipients for the 4th Son of the Soil Awards, 2022.

Son Of The Soil Award

The 3rd edition of the SOTS Awards were presented on 13th November 2021 at Vivanta, Guwahati.​ Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Biswajit Daimary graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented the awards to the winners.

The awards were presented in five categories: Art & Culture, Sports, Entrepreneurship, Public Administration, Media and Literature. The Award consisted of a Citation and Fifty-one Thousand Rupees.

The recipients of the 2nd Son of the Soil Awards, 2018-19 are:

  • Ms. Manashi Sahariah, Singer (Art & Culture)
  • Mr. Jitendra Kumar Choudhury, Dainik Asom (Media)
  • Mr. Ajit Kumar Sharma, ACS (Public Administrator)

Care Luit also presented Ms. Kusum Bora Mokashi, Social-worker from Kasturba Gandhi Ashram with the 1st Late Kishori Mohan Das Memorial Social Sector Development Award in memory of the founding settlor of Care Luit.

Care Luit honoured five other eminent citizens of Assam in the fields of private sector development, sports, culture, media and public administration – Dr. Narendra Nath Dutta (Downtown Group), Md. Nabab Ali (Cricket Coach), Shri Anirban Das (eminent ghazal singer), Ms. Maini Mahanta (writer) and Sri Shankar Prasad Nandy, IAS (Retd.)

Son Of The Soil Award

Care Luit instituted the first edition of its biennial initiative ‘Son Of The Soil Award’ in May 2016 with an objective to recognize the indigenous young people who have excelled in their respective fields. The Award consists of a memento and Fifty One Thousand Rupees.

Hon’ble MP, Mr. Kamakhya Prasad Tasa, Hon’ble Ministers, Govt of Assam Shri Chandra Mohan Patowary & Shri Keshav Mahanta along with Hon’ble MLA Shri Ranjit Das and Shri A.M. Singh, Joint Secretary DONER, Govt of India presented the awards to the winners. The award ceremony was followed by a colourful cultural show celebrating the north-east.
